Daytona Beach, FL - June 20th, Grand-American Road Racing Series Koni Challenge had round 7 of 11 rounds at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course. The 7th round of the series was a 2.5 hour Grand Sport only race. James Gué and teammate Bret Seafuse recently came off of a disappointing 8th place in Watkins Glen. Gué and Seafuse came into the seventh round 2nd in the championship.

When they unloaded the car in Mid-Ohio it was right on pace in the top 3 for most of the sessions. Heading into qualifying the team was very optimistic, and Bret had his best qualifying effort with a 3rd place. In the race Seafuse raced his way to second place, until getting tangled with a lapped car causing him to spin and drop back to 4th place. At the mid point of the race he handed the car off to Gué in 4nd place. From that point on it was a fairly uneventful race for Gué as everyone had spread out and race ran caution free to the end. Gué was running the same lap times as the leader, but 30 seconds behind due the spin Seafuse had earlier in the race. In the end Gué brought the #37 car home in the 2nd position.

Gué commented: "It was a great weekend for us, we were in the top 3 in most practice sessions leading up to the race. Bret did a great job in qualifying, it was just unfortunate that the lap car ran into Bret; if that hadn't have happened I think we may have had a shot at the win. Thanks again to all the JBS crew for hard work and giving us a great car."

Daytona Beach, FL - This past weekend, June 6th, Grand-American Road Racing Series Koni Challenge had round 6 of 11 rounds at Watkins Glen, New York. The 6th round of the series was a 2.5 hour timed race, however unlike the last race in Lime Rock it was a combined race with both the Grand-Sport and Sport Touring classes running together. James Gué and teammate Bret Seafuse recently came off of a disappointing 9th place in Lime Rock and they were looking to rebound and get back to the top 5. Gué and Seafuse came into the sixth round 2nd in the championship. Watkins Glen is the home track for the JBS team as the work shop is located about 5 minutes from the track.

After a disappointing run in Lime Rock the JBS crew went through the whole car and found a few problems that plagued the team in Lime Rock. When they unloaded the car in Watkins Glen it was right on pace in the top 5 for most of the sessions. Heading into qualifying the team was very optimistic, and Bret didn't disappoint as he posted the 4th quickest time. In the race Seafuse raced his way to the lead, and at the mid point of the race he handed the car off to Gué in 2nd place. Once the race restarted Gué quickly moved to the lead where he remained for 10 laps, until the Tuner and TRG cars drove to the front as all four of them started posting times that were 2 seconds a lap faster than they had posted all weekend. Gué had settled into 5th place, but unfortunately with 1/2 a lap to go Gué was rear ended by Billy Johnson in the #61 Mustang when the rain began to fall, which put the #37 car in the tire barrier. In the end the #37 Mustang finished in the 9th position on track, but was later moved to 8th after the stewards issued the#61 car a penalty for overly aggressive driving.

Gué commented: "I was really optimistic heading into this race, we had a great car in practice and Bret had his best qualifying effort of the year. It was frustrating enough having to deal with all the "games" that TRG and Turner play each weekend, but then to get punted off on the last lap was really disappointing. I was happy to see the officials actually did something about it, but it still doesn't fix what happened. We are still hanging onto 2nd in the points and we'll try hard get our season turned around in Mid-Ohio."

The Watkins Glen event will be shown on SPEED TV June 14th at 2PM

Daytona Beach, FL - This past Monday, May 25th, Grand-American Road Racing Series Koni Challenge had round 5 of 10 rounds at the Lime Rock Raceway, in Lakeville Connecticut. This weekend was different than most as it was Memorial Day weekend and they traditionally hold the race on the Monday. The 5rd round of the series was a 2.5 hour timed race on the newly resurfaced 1.53 mile road course. James Gué and teammate Bret Seafuse recently came off of a 5th place in Laguna Seca. Gué and Seafuse came into the fifth round 2nd in the championship.

Traditionally Lime Rock has been a good track for the JBS team, having scored their first podium last year. Unfortunately, the team struggled throughout all of practice and qualifying trying to find the setup. Bret Seafuse managed to post the 10th quickest time. After exhausting all the normal setup changes, Gue and Seafuse had to revert to more extreme changes, but unfortunately they didn't translate to faster lap times. In the race the team had great strategy and pitstops, but the car just wasn't fast enough. After all the changes the team made throughout the weekend the only conclusion was that there must be a more significant issue with the car. In the end the #37 Mustang finished in the 9th position.

Gué commented: "I was a really frustrating weekend, normally we are very quick here. There is certainly something wrong with the car; I don't know whether it is something that carried over from the accident in Laguna last weekend. We are still 2nd in the points and all we can do is look forward to the team's home track in 2 weeks in Watkins Glen."

Daytona Beach, FL - This past Saturday, May 16th , Grand-American Road Racing Series Koni Challenge had round 4 of 10 rounds at the famous Laguna Seca Raceway, in Monterey California. The 4rd round of the series was a 2.5 hour timed race on the 2.238 mile road course at the Mazda Raceway. James Gué and teammate Bret Seafuse recently came off of a 5th place in New Jersey. Gué and Seafuse came into the fourth round 2nd in the championship, and only 3 points out of the lead.

It had been two years since the Koni Challenge Series visited Laguna Seca. The #37 JBS Motorsports Mustang was quick from the beginning of practice, Bret Seafuse did a good job in qualifying posting the 6th quickest time. The team felt confident heading into the race until the morning warm up, when the car suffered considerable damage when part of the suspension failed on a quick section of the track sending the car head on into the tires. Luckily it was a late afternoon start, which allowed the JBS crew to rebuild the front of the car in just 3 hours. Seafuse made it to the grid just in time to take his 6th place starting position. From there Seafuse had a strong run staying in the top 5. At about the half way point Gue took over and rejoined in 9th place, and was able to make his way to 5th place.

Gué commented: "It was certainly a trying weekend for the JBS team, I felt we had a really strong car, and then when the suspension failed in the warmup it did quite a bit of damage and it look questionable if we could even make the race. So to come back from the accident and finish 5th was a great result, but at the same time the car wasn't quite right in the race and we struggled compared to the test days. One of these weekends it's going to turn around for us, hopefully we've got all our bad luck out of the way for the year."

The race from Laguna will be shown on SPEED channel this weekend May 23rd at 12pm.

Daytona Beach, FL - This past Saturday, May 3rd , Grand-American Road Racing Series Koni Challenge had round 3 of 10 rounds at the Thunderbolt track in Millville, New Jersey . The 3rd round of the series was a 2.5 hour timed race on the 2.25 mile road course at the Thunderbolt Raceway. James Gué and teammate Bret Seafuse recently came off of a 4th place in Homestead Speedway. Gué and Seafuse came into the third round 2nd in the championship, and only 6 points out of the lead.

The weekend got off to tough start as the team struggled to find the setup, running in the top 10 in most of the practice sessions. In qualifying Seafuse posted the 7th quickest time out of 22 cars, during very difficult conditions as it started raining as everyone took to the track for qualifying.

Seafuse had a difficult start to the race getting puched back to 12th in the opening laps. At the 40 minute mark Seafuse handed the car over to Gué who rejoined the track in 15th place. With an hour left in the race Gué had worked his was to the front, and lead for 22 laps before having to pit with 20 minutes remaining for a splash of fuel. Gué then returned to the track in 7th place and in the end made his way back to 5th place. In a weekend that was dominated by BMWs and Porsches, Gué and Seafuse were pleased to be the highest place Mustang. The 5th place finished moved Gué and Seafuse to within 3 point of the championship lead.

Gué commented: "It was a good weekend for the JBS team, we certainly didn't have the speed this weekend, the track really favors BMWs and Porsches. So get a top 5 and be the highest placed Mustang is as good as a win for us. We may have ened up 4th if a few things fell our way. We scored more valuable points and moved to within 3 points of the lead."

The race from New Jersey will be shown on SPEED channel this weekend May 9th at 12pm.
